Welcome to Off the Cuff!
Hello, and thank you for visiting Off the Cuff! The personal blog of Brad Trnavsky MBA.
Introductions are tough
For me writing something like this is always difficult because you never know where to start an introduction about yourself to people you don’t know. However, I think it is important that I put a bit about myself up here. That way people get an idea of who this crazy guy that writes about EVERYTHING is… So here we go!
First and foremost, I am a Christian, father, and husband. You will see evidence of that in nearly everything I write whether it is overtly or covertly. This is intentional and I do not apologize for it. I do not see any reason to have any separation in my personal, business, or public sense of ethics or morality. Moreover, I have found that what most people like about me is that I am the same ol’ Brad in nearly every setting. What you see at work, a party, fishing or in my home is the same personality all the time. I also strongly believe that my style of servant leadership comes directly from my faith and is a large part of why I have been professionally as successful as I have been.
I’m divorced after 17 years of marriage. This was devastating to me in many ways and has changed the way I think about many things. In particular, I learned I am not a fan of how many Christians deal with the concept of divorce or treat you as you go through that process. However, I’m remarried now and have a large blended family with 5 children (two daughters 8 & 13 a step daughter 14, and two stepsons 13 & 17) and a beautiful wife whom I adore. Needless to say, managing a career, website, business, and a large family is not without its challenges and keeps me quite busy.
I have a wide range of professional and leadership experience. My leadership experience starts with 8 years of military service. However, I have worked most of my career in sales and marketing in the for-profit higher education industry. I have also taught and coached (football, basketball, and track) in the public school system. My most recent career change is out of sales and into the marketing and advertising industry as a project/ account manager.
I have been writing, blogging, coaching, consulting, and doing freelance work since 2007. I really love taking on new projects and helping people grow themselves or their businesses. Helping people be more successful motivates me personally and professionally to also make myself better. With that in mind, I’m always willing to talk to people about new projects. If you are interested in having me help you with something please feel free to send me a message through my contact page.
Writing and Affiliate Connections
I write here because I enjoy it and because I like to learn about new things and share my research and experiences as I learn. I also use it to market myself as a freelance writer, coach, and sales and marketing consultant. Additionally, I do some affiliate marketing to raise a bit of extra cash. Justmylifeinwords.com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com, endless.com, MYHABIT.com, SmallParts.com, or AmazonWireless.com.
I do not make a ton of money from this but it covers my hosting fees and other expenses associated with running the site and occasionally a little extra for me to buy myself a book or something cool for myself or the family.
I write product reviews, and while I generally only review products I have recently purchased because I think they are cool, interesting, and helpful or because they are awful and I want others to know. Occasionally, I get sponsored products or services given to me to review. When this happens, I will always point it out clearly in the post, and I will not let the fact that a product was free to me influence my thoughts on whether I would recommend it to you! Remember… integrity is important to me!
Why I Write
Finally, besides marketing my self as a freelance writer, coach and consultant, I write this for my kids. I guess it’s a bit of a legacy and I hope that someday they may think it’s cool to see what their old man thought about such a variety of topics. I wish I had journals from My Great Grandfather. He was one of the most interesting and fascinating people I have ever known. Not that I think I am fascinating, but someday someone might think so! 😛
Anyways, I hope you enjoy my little corner of the internet, that you learn something, and that you will share your thoughts in the comments so I can learn from you as well. if you would like to read a detailed history of how this blog has evolved since 2006 and my tragic divorce story you should read the post Long Time No See!
